the JoshMeister's Review

Emma Smith: My Story (2008) is a dramatic portrayal of the early years of the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ in modern times, from the perspective of Emma Smith, the wife of Latter-day Saint prophet Joseph Smith. Katherine Nelson plays the lead role, and her depiction of Emma Smith easily remains one of the most powerful to date. The film seeks to be historically accurate, and it doesn't shy away from covering controversial or touchy subjects in the Smiths' personal lives.

I highly recommend this film both to those who know little about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (sometimes referred to by the unofficial nickname "Mormon"), and also to anyone who thinks they already know about the Smiths; it might just be an eye-opening experience. For Latter-day Saints, there's a lot to love; you'll find it both uplifting and informative, it will answer questions you may have had about Emma, and it will give you a greater appreciation for the trials she experienced in her life. It's absolutely worth adding to your movie collection; I suggest buying the Blu-ray edition.
